What's this show all about?

5 O'Clock Hustle is a hub for after-hours entrepreneurs and weekend warriors who are ready to challenge the status quo and take control of their lives by following their dreams and exploring their passions.  The 5 O'Clock Hustle team is dedicated to bringing fresh and inspirational content from like-minded entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

What is the interview process like?

We want to try and break the format of your average business podcast.  Most you listen to are certainly focused on a strict format that allows for a very structured and informative show....and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, we think there is plenty of that in the world already, so we want to do things a little different.

Yeah... great, so what is it like?

Well, we just talk...we want to get to know you as a person and a structured interview can just turn into a rehashing of your bio. In all the episodes we've done this way, we have still been able to pull out incredible and practical business lessons so don't worry about the structure.  Just come in with an open mind and let's have fun with it.

But what if I want to talk about a specific topic?

That's great! You can let us know ahead of time if you'd like so we can work it in or just bring it up during the recording.

When will we talk about what I'm promoting?

Like I said its a free flowing conversation; you can bring it up as much as you'd like and as long as you filled out the guest booking form, we will bring it up towards the end as well. We got your back!

All in all, this podcast is about hearing your story and having a great conversation!

Technical Stuff

Booking Process

This is always the toughest part...

The name of our podcast is not only a clever phrase but its our way of life.  We each work full time jobs and because of this, scheduling can be an issue.

Traditionally we record Tuesdays at 8:30pm Pacific Standard Time.

I know thats late, especially if your in a different time zone, but it works best in our hectic schedules.

If you can't make a Tuesday night work don't worry.  We will work together to figure out a day and time to have you on the show.

Here is the booking process in a nutshell:

  • We hop on a quick 5 minute phone call.
  • During the Call we discuss 3 brief topics
    • Familiarize you with the show and format
    • Book a day and time
    • Touch on what you might light to talk about (your story, things you'd like to promote etc.)
  • Once we've choose a date and time, we will send over a google invite (or similar) to your email.
  • Besides that we will follow up the Friday before with an email to confirm the date and again the day of as a reminder.  (Please confirm receipt of these email and let us know of any issues with scheduling)

Note: Once booked please do your best to let us know 24 hours in advance of the recording if you won't be able to make the recording to allow us time to find another guest.

Ways to Record

Here's a list of ways we can record the show, in order of preference:

  1. Face to Face:
    • This is our favorite as sitting down in the same room can promote even more in-depth conversations
    • If you choose this option please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled recording time.  We go live on youtube and/or facebook, so keeping a schedule is important.
  2. Zencastr:
    • This is an excellent VOIP service that records high quality wav files of the attendees on separate tracks.  This makes the editing process much easier and provides a higher production quality podcast for our listeners than similar services such as skype and google hangouts.
    • Requirements:
      • Computer or laptop with a high speed internet connection
      • Headphones (prevents feedback in the recording which can lower sound quality)
      • Microphone (internal computer microphones are never any good)
      • Note: The headphones can be anything from studio quality equipment to apple ear buds.
  3. Google Hangouts On Air or Skype:
    • This final option is great if you can't meet in person or don't have access to a desktop or laptop computer.
    • Requirements:
      • Computer/Laptop/Smartphone with a high speed internet connection
      • Headphones (prevents feedback in the recording which can lower sound quality)
      • Microphone (internal computer microphones are never any good)
      • Note: The headphones can be anything from studio quality equipment to apple ear buds.

Thank you so much for your time! And again, thank you for your interest of being on our show.
